The standard

The Guild Standard

Choosing a contractor means hours of reading reviews and hoping you picked well. We've already done that reading. Every business invited onto GuildSelect has a strong public Google record behind it, and every number that earned the invitation is on the profile.

Three public tests

We set the bar from public information anyone can check, and we publish exactly what it is. A business is invited only when all three tests pass.

Test one

A high Google rating

The top rating is hard to reach and harder to keep. A high score, held over years and many jobs, means customers were happy again and again.

Test two

A substantial body of verified reviews

A few good reviews are easy to collect. A large body of them is a different thing: it means many real customers used this business and said what they thought.

Test three

An established track record

Good contractors stay busy; the ones who aren't good tend not to last. Businesses with years in business, behind them, have lasted.

We use Google ratings only, never ratings from other directories. We keep checking after the invitation, so a profile is never an old snapshot.

No paid access

Invited, never applied

The best contractors are usually busy. The best one near you probably has a waiting list, not a marketing department.

Nobody can apply, pay or list themselves in. We look at the public Google record of businesses across the Tampa area — the rating, the review count, how long the business has been going — and the ones that pass all three tests get a personal invitation.

No one can pay to get onto GuildSelect. Every business you see met the Guild Standard first, and only then was invited. A place here is earned, not purchased.

Then we write each profile ourselves, in plain words, so you can see who they are and what customers say about them.

Being straight with you

GuildSelect is a curated directory, not a regulatory body. We don't set the rules for any trade, and we hold no trade licences. Meeting the Guild Standard means a business has a strong public track record that anyone can check. It does not mean we inspected, insured or guarantee their work, their prices, or anything else about them.

Some trades are licensed and regulated separately — electrical, plumbing, HVAC and others, depending on the state and county. Always check the right licence or certification with the issuing authority yourself before any work begins.

The standard, in plain sight

When the directory opens, every profile shows the rating, the verified reviews and the years in business behind the invitation — so you can judge the record yourself.
